-This philosophy can be summarized as "sageliness within and kingliness without." -The Chinese has followed it for two millennial. -It can be viewed as a philosophy, but whether it is a religion depends on what a religion is to you. -Followers of Confucius' way are considered Confucians. -Confucianism was honoring one's ancestors was the Golden Rule. -Confucius was not successful while he lived, most likely because of his personality or his status (not very popular). Following his death, there were a large amount of critics, so Confucianism took a while to become well-known. -Confucianism was built from an ancient religious foundation. Sociologist, Robert Bellah called it a "civil religion" (a religious status and with common moral). |
